A wood and chrome Art Deco decorative sailing boat. This stunning model is perfect for the beach house. This type of stylized model was very popular in Europe during the 1920's and '30's. However, they are usually much smaller in size. Rather than being an accurate scale model, this type of sculpture is really more that; An artistic rendition of a sail boat in full flow. You can really feel the wind blowing between the sails as it powers majestically through the ocean.
The model comprises of a solid ebonized oak wood base with a hand cut chrome deck, tall mast and three hand cut sails with small applied details to each. Atop the long mast is the yacht burgee in its original, blue and green stripe enamel paint, albeit with a little wear from the ocean!
The model is unsigned, but originated from England, and dates circa 1930's. The condition is excellent throughout, with only the painted flag showing signs of age. This really enhances the feel that the sculpture is nearly one hundred years old. Perfect for any sailing enthusiast.
